PEX tubing is the most preferred type of tubes used for plumbing and heating applications. It is obtainable in various forms depending on its manufacturing. These tubes are manufactured differently in order to serve multiple applications effectively. The classification of these tubes is also made on basis of material with which they are made and on type of applications served by them.
Type 1 – PEX – a
This type of PEX pipe is manufactured according to the ‘Engel Methodology’. In this tube, the cross linking is crafted above the melting point of crystal. This supplies more uniform and consistent cross linkage to entire tube. This process but takes much longer time to get completed and is little expensive in comparison to methodologies employed for crafting other forms of PEX.
Type 2 – PEX – b
This is category ‘b’ PEX pipe which is formed through method of silane. In this method the cross linking are mad between PEX with help of powerful cross linking agents. In order to quicken up the process, moisture and heat is used. Using such agents not only increases the completion time of process but also makes it quite simple and cheap.
Type 3 – PEX – c
This form of PEX tube is formed through process of electron beaming. The cross linking within the pipe structure is created down to the melting point of crystal which formulates uniform and even cross linking. This is the most eco-friendly way of preparing PEX products as it does not involve any sort of chemical agents in it. No kind of harmful products are produced through this methodology. This is one of the finest forms of PEX pipes.
Type 4 – PEX – Al – PEX
This is last type of PEX pipe which is crafted with layer of aluminum sandwiched between two strong layers of PEX. The layer of aluminum within it acts as barrier to any sort of corrosion or damage caused due to oxygen or other gases. Presence of aluminum within it prevents the oxygen molecules from getting in direct contact with water. In addition to this, the aluminum also enhances the robustness of pipe and provides much better firmness to it. It is most often used in performing radiant heating applications. It is also useful for carrying all such applications which involve extreme temperature conditions.
These are therefore 4 types of PEX tubing which are designed differently and used for performing different applications.
